My name is Monique Roodenburg, I am an artist from Delft in the Netherlands. I feel very lucky that my studio is right at one of the historical canals of the city center.

After being a theatre performer for 10 years I gradually exchanged the stage for the camera. A lot of my artworks are photographs. But besides that I am also working with other materials. I am working with collages, paper, clay, paint, charcoal at the moment too.

The collages start with cutting and composing with what I can find and what my subconscious thinks works best. After that I am taking it to my digital workspace to repeat the same process. And this editing process is quite the same as in my photo art.

As you can see some of the collages are more abstract and others are more like magical realism or surrealism. I find my inspiration in all things, that are an altered reality. I like to search for a balance between ugly and beautiful. Between hard and soft. Light and dark. Without one, the other one does not exist. But what you also may find in all of my artworks is texture and a balanced color pallet.
